Field Sales


Job description

Location: Field based within defined region – South

Job Purpose: As the CDE for your Sales Region you will ensure in store execution of agreed account promotions and display activity to ensure the delivery of sales targets, profit and distribution goals across the account portfolio. You will develop and grow share of shelf & display space in store to deliver and maintain market leading presence across all Evergreen product categories.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Deliverables:

  • Accountable to ensure Evergreen brands continually dominate in store shelf and display space by driving agreed ranging & promotional account plans.
  • Deliver effective and cost efficient use of POS / Display material to ensure planned return of investment.


  • To merchandise Evergreen’s product range on fixture and in secondary locations using POS and aligned with agreed promotional plans creating maximum in store visibility.
  • Working with the Territory Manager and account decision makers as appropriate ensure compliance to agreed planograms, ranging and promotional plans to grow Evergreen’s share of space in store.
  • Build and develop strong trade / customer relations to drive agreement for bespoke secondary display and placement for key products relevant to the time of year.
  • Use initiative to ensure that all opportunities for incremental, add on sales, can be exploited.


  • Develop and implement a portfolio merchandising plan in conjunction with Territory Managers to deliver on time
  • Pre-season and In season merchandising set up.
  • Plan, order and ensure all relevant POS is in place in a timely manner to agreed plans and targets, gaining agreement ahead of competition.
  • Check stock levels, and maximise share of shelf space by category. Order stock in accordance with sales levels eliminating out of stock for Evergreen products.
  • Fully utilise the COHERIS sales system to ensure complete and up to date documentation of all sales activity, in accordance with the established procedures, including distribution and promotional execution.
  • Maximise the distribution and in store presence of all new product launches to agreed targets.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of competitors, products, customers and markets in order to provide constructive input to the portfolio development.
  • Sharing leads & best practice with team members and across the Consumer Business Group. Update relevant file sharing sites as appropriate.
  • Provide feedback on consumer and competitor activity on a weekly basis.
  • Undertake new account / business prospecting as required by Regional Team and provide holiday / sick cover for colleagues as required.
  • Undertake at least 10 weekend days of in store active selling / product demonstrations as required during peak season and as part of the overall account and territory development plan.
  • Representing the Organisation at various trade exhibitions, events and demonstrations as required.

Commercial and Sales Delivery:

  • Manage allocated account base delivering target sales number for each account and total area.
  • Implement Promotional plan in each trading customer to deliver distribution gains and sales volumes.
  • Identify & drive new business opportunities with the sales team to enhance the EGC market share.
  • Influence and support trading relationships to deliver agreed sales plans, profitability and market share across Evergreen categories.


  • Undertake other duties as the management may from time to time reasonably require.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with the Evergreen UK Company Employment Policies and individual contractual terms and conditions of employment;
  • Take reasonable care of health and safety of self, other people and resources whilst at work to comply with the Evergreen Company’s Health and Safety Policy, Codes of Practice and local rules.
  • Co-operate with the line manager or any other person with specific responsibility for health and safety, to enable the Evergreen Company’s responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act to be performed.


 Good general education to GCSE / A level standard or equivalent - Including English & Maths

Knowledge & Experience


  •  Computer literate in Power point, Word and Excel
  •  Selling and negotiation skills
  •  Time Management & Prioritisation skills
  •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  •  Driving License


  •  Good product and application knowledge, not only of Evergreen products but those of the competition
  •  Good understanding of Merchandising principles
  •  Have experience in seasonal selling
